Our sites are Browsealoud enabled. Browsealoud is a software program that reads aloud web page and PDF document content. Once you have downloaded the Browsealoud software onto your computer, all you need to do is place your mouse pointer over the text you wish to have read aloud and Browsealoud will do so, you can also opt to have the text being read aloud highlighted on the screen. Browsealoud is available for both PC and Mac just follow the link below.

Changing text size

We have built into our site the text-size widgets that enable you to resize the text to your personal preferences. You can use the buttons in the top right hand corner to control this.
You can also specify the font sizes, styles and colours, and foreground and background colours of web pages displayed on your computer by altering your browser preferences on your machine.
If you use Microsoft Internet Explorer the following will lead you step-by-step in how to adjust text sizesand colours on your screen.


Microsoft Internet Explorer for PC

Open Internet Explorer Web Browser
Select ‘Tools’ from the menu at the top of your window
From the options which appear, select ‘Internet options…’.
Click the ‘General’ tab
Click the button marked ‘Accessibility’
To change the font size, tick the checkbox labelled ‘Ignore font sizes specified on Web pages’
To remove background and font colours, tick the checkbox labelled ‘Ignore colours specified on
web pages’
Click OK (and again if necessary)
Select ‘View’ from the menu at the top of the window
Select ‘Text Size’
Select desired text size


Downloadable Documents

A number of downloadable documents available within this site are in Portable Document Format
(often referred to as PDF). In order to view a PDF document, you need free software called Adobe
Acrobat Reader.

If you use a screen reading program which synthesizes text as audible speech you may experience
difficulty reading PDF files.
The Access Adobe website provides online tools to convert PDF documents into standard HTML or ASCII text.
