Are you out of work? Could you be affected?

As of November 2016 the Benefit Cap limit has been reduced. The benefit cap is a limit on the total amount of welfare benefits that people of working age can receive. This will include your housing benefit, the total amount for lone parents and couples with or without children is £384 a week and £257 a week for single people. If you are over this amount then you will have your housing benefit reduced. The Department for Work and Pensions and Teignbridge District Council will write to tell you if you are being capped. If you are affected, please contact us as soon as possible so we can agree a payment plan to stop you falling into arrears.
