Residents from Kingsway, Teignmouth, have been brushing up on their decorating skills at a DIY day held in the Meadow Centre on Wednesday 11 April. We hosted the day in partnership with our responsive repairs contractor Ian Williams.
Skilled tradespeople from Ian Williams provided two painting and decorating workshops and were on hand to offer residents advice and tips on DIY issues. Everybody then turned their attention to the interior of the Meadow Centre, which was re-painted and given a new lease of life with paint donated by Dulux.
Teresa Warn, our community development team leader, said: “It was great to see so many people there and the whole Kingsway community will now be able to enjoy the newly spruced up Meadow Centre. We would like to say a big thank you to all the residents that took part and to our partners at Ian Williams and Dulux for their involvement.”
Ian Williams’ contract with Teign Housing covers responsive repairs and empty homes refurbishments for the housing association’s 3,600 properties across South Devon.
Kate Rooke, response maintenance manager for Ian Williams, said: “Both the residents and staff who took part in the DIY day really got a lot out of the sessions. It was a great partnership and demonstrated the strong team ethos that we all have.
“We had such an enjoyable day and hope the community benefits from the refurbishment of the Meadow Centre.”
Ian Williams and ourselves also ran a similar event at Buckland, Newton Abbot on Wednesday 4 April. Both Kingsway and Buckland have been identified as priority areas and we will continue to work with our partners to make the areas cleaner, greener and safer.
