TeignCare customer Helga Fischer from Dunchideock celebrated her 100th birthday on Tuesday 26 August. As Helga, originally from Germany, is not a British national she isn’t eligible for a telegram from the Queen. Helga has lived in the village of Dunchideock since the 1950’s.
Tanya Alford, Teign Housing’s Supported Housing Manager said: “Helga is one of our TeignCare customers and we knew that she would be turning 100 this year. Helga is a lovely lady and we didn’t want this milestone to go unmarked. Instead of receiving a telegram from the Queen we arranged for the Rt. Hon David Cameron PM and Ans. German Federal President Joachim Gauck to write to her on her birthday.”
Giselle Fischer, Helga’s daughter said: “I can’t thank TeignCare enough, it’s a wonderful service and arranging this for my mother goes above and beyond. We are so grateful for the letters, mum was thrilled.”
