To bid for homes, you must join the housing register by completing the Devon Home Choice application form.  You can do this online at the Devon Home Choice website www.devonhomechoice.com or by completing a paper application form. All applications will be assessed for eligibility to join the Devon Home Choice register. An advocate (for example family, friend or support agency) can complete the application form on your behalf if you find this difficult.

Moving to a smaller home

Mutual Exchanges
Also known as exchange by way of assignment – this means you can swap your home with another tenant either locally or somewhere else in the UK. It is carried out using a deed of assignment, which may have implications on your future Right to Buy. There are certain qualifying criteria which must be met, including all parties rent accounts need to be up to date at the time the assignment takes place. The Register of Housing Need
You can contact Teignbridge District Council on 01626 361101, or e-mail: info@teignbridge.gov.uk to request to be placed on the Register of Housing Need. This will give you the opportunity to be considered for properties owned by us and other registered social landlords in the Teignbridge area. Fair for everyone
To make sure that the way we allocate our homes is fair, open and accountable, we produce an annual lettings plan.  This sets out our proposals for letting the number of homes we anticipate will become available during the year .  We have projected that 227 homes will become available for letting during 2008-9 and 151 of these will be offered to Teignbridge District Council to nominate to applicants from the Register iof Housing Need.  For more details, take a look at our Lettings Plan.
