Board Member

Deadline: 06/12/24

  • Interview date: 22/01/25

Teign Housing is a successful social landlord employing over 200 ambitious, committed people, responsible for managing more than 4,000 homes across South Devon.

About the role

You will be building and maintaining positive working relationships with other members of the Board, the Chief Executive and the executive management team.  You will provide constructive challenge as we make the tough decisions that will help us to continue providing good quality homes and services for our local community in an ever-changing operating environment.

About you

You will support us by:

  • sharing our values and work as part of a team to help set the strategic direction and continued success of Teign Housing
  • valuing accountability and transparency
  • setting and ensuring compliance with the vision, values, and strategic aims of the organisation, ensuring its long-term success
  • understand that everything we decide may impact our residents, so a strong resident outcome focus will be advantageous.

Previous experience of working at Board level would be helpful; but your willingness to contribute and make a real difference to our residents’ lives is essential. You may have an understanding of the social housing sector, and this would be an ideal opportunity for someone looking to start a non-executive career or make a move into the sector.

Ideally, you would be able to commit to two terms of office of three years, a maximum tenure of six years.

Application information

Recruiting excellent, well-rounded candidates is our priority for this role.  We are seeking two new Board members. We welcome applications from any background and experience; we are particularly interested in hearing from those with housing governance and financial backgrounds.

Teign Housing strongly encourages applications from all areas of the community.

Prior experience of being a Board or Committee Member, or an understanding of the housing sector and the regulatory context within which we operate would be useful, but training and support can be provided.
