You’ll make every home better. Every day.
At Teign Housing, we’re passionate about giving our residents the best possible homes and our team the best and most flexible careers. Our culture of agile working means our 100 people enjoy an exceptional work-life balance, with the option of spending much of their time based at home. We believe giving you choice over when, where and how you work will improve both your wellbeing and your performance – creating a win-win situation for you, for us and for the thousands of people who rely on us.
About the Building Surveyor role
In this key position, you will organise and undertake stock condition and energy performance surveys, as well as risk assessments to HHSRS (Housing Health and Safety Rating System) standards. Equally importantly, you may assist with formulating and administering improvement works, grant funding bids and project delivery, which could include obtaining building regulation and planning approvals, preparing specifications and schedules, completing or commissioning design, and controlling the accuracy of project data. You will forge close relationships with leaseholders, colleagues, contractors and regulatory bodies, so you will need a rare blend of commercial, organisational, practical and interpersonal skills.
About you
Experienced in building inspection and surveys, domestic energy assessments and just-in-time maintenance, you should be formally HHSRS trained and qualified to at least HNC or HND level in building and hold or have held energy assessor accreditation. Membership of a professional body such as RICS or CIOB would be very useful, as would P405 training in asbestos management, and you will ideally be familiar with life cycle costing, preparing specifications, and using CAD software. However, it’s your ability to interpret data to provide clear and considered recommendations that will matter most, alongside your determination to make things happen to enhance our housing stock.
Benefits
We are an Investor in People Platinum organisation, so you will be joining a company that creates a supportive high-performance culture. You can also expect to enjoy an excellent benefits package, including:
• Flexible working with time based at home where agreed
• Training opportunities
• 25 days’ leave plus bank holidays and discretionary leave between Christmas and New Year
• Pension scheme
• Free parking
• Employee Assistance Programme
• And much more
