Help our residents make the right choices. Because everyone has the right to a happy life.
Teign Housing is a successful social landlord employing over 90 ambitious, committed people, responsible for managing more than 3,600 homes across South Devon. You will assist our residents in maintaining their tenancies by identifying their needs and delivering comprehensive advice, information and coaching – so you will be central to enhancing their quality of life.
About the Head Start Advisor role
Where new and existing tenants require support to make positive life choices, you will deliver guidance on budgeting, money management, accessing finance, using the internet, health, employment, and much more. In particular, you will proactively prevent debt and evictions, making recommendations to statutory and voluntary agencies where appropriate, and will promote a positive and responsible attitude towards saving and spending. At the same time, you will work with residents to access utilities and acquire furniture and fittings, whilst assisting in allocating homes and updating our policies and procedures, so you will profoundly shape the way we think and work.
This role is part-time, 18.5 hours per week, offered on a fixed term contract to cover maternity leave until June 2021.
Experienced in social housing or a related sector, you will be familiar with supporting vulnerable people and bring an excellent understanding of the welfare system, budgeting and financial management. A formal qualification in domestic violence, housing support, money advice or health and social care would be very useful, but more importantly you will be passionate about promoting inclusion, determined to make a difference and ready to go the extra mile for our tenants. Finally, it goes without saying that you are very empathetic, self-motivated and organised, with strong IT skills and proven ability to draft meaningful reports that deliver real insight.
In return, we offer an excellent benefits package with a contributory pension scheme, 25 days’ leave per year plus bank holidays, free parking and a modern working environment.
