Newton Abbot, Devon
Give us great financial foundations for our 3,700 homes.
Teign Housing is a successful social landlord employing over 100 ambitious, committed people, responsible for managing more than 3,700 homes across South Devon. Effective financial control is central to our continued success, placing you at the heart of everything we do.
Enjoying daily contact with colleagues, tenants, local authorities and external agencies, you will prepare and review our management accounts, KPIs and performance data whilst compiling annual returns and other statutory reports. This is both in respect of Teign Housing and our subsidiary, Templer HomeBuild.
In particular, you will provide accounting support for new property developments, set budgets across the organisation and advise operational managers on a broad spectrum of financial issues, giving you a very high profile. What’s more, your remit will extend to maintaining our fixed asset register, VAT accounting, and service and leaseholder charges.
Every day will bring new challenges, so we require a capable professional with substantial management accounting experience working at a high level. Ideally, you’ll be part or fully qualified (ACCA/CCAB/CIMA) and can demonstrate an in depth understanding of accounting concepts.
You will certainly be able to prioritise a complex and conflicting workload, maintain clear and accurate records and scrutinise complicated data, whilst dealing effectively with a broad spectrum of stakeholders. Great communication skills are important, especially dealing when with internal managers, the auditors and other external bodies.
Finally, it is essential that you are fully versed in using general ledgers, preparing/checking journals, accounting for fixed assets, assisting in preparing statutory accounts, VAT, reporting and IT systems – ideally supporting the maintenance of the finance system.
You’ll be a great team member, with a willingness to identify and implement change where necessary and be ready to hit the ground running.
We are an Investor in People Platinum organisation, so you will be joining a company that creates a supportive high-performance culture. You can expect an excellent benefits package with a contributory pension scheme, 25 days’ leave plus bank holidays, free parking and an agile, modern working environment with a mixture of working from home, and in the office based in Newton Abbot, plus plenty of scope for progression.
