Meet, Alison, Procurement Business Partner and Danielle, Procurement Co-ordinator.
Hi both, how long have you worked here and what do you do?
Alison: I’ve worked here since January, and I am the Procurement Business Partner at Teign Housing.
Danielle: I’ve been with Teign Housing for just over two months. I currently working on the project to bring our repairs service in-house, which is part of brining our repairs service, Templer HomeBuild into Teign Housing, so we can work more effectively. At the moment I’m helping to ensure that Templer HomeBuild spending is compliant with procurement requirements.
How would you explain your role to someone who’s never heard of it?
Alison: My job in Procurement is to help the organisation purchase the goods and services it needs in a way that is compliant, cost-effective and sustainable, while managing risk and delivering value. I act as the link between operational teams, suppliers, and procurement, providing commercial advice and helping deliver value-for-money solutions, ensuring we are procuring goods following the current legislation, whilst reducing risk to the organisation. Our goal is to help colleagues get the resources and services they need to do their jobs well.
Danielle: My role is to make sure goods, services and contracts are purchased in a fair, compliant and cost-effective way. I work with colleagues and suppliers to ensure we achieve value for money while following the correct procedures and regulations.
How does your role make a difference to our customers?
Alison: Although Procurement doesn’t work directly with our customers, we play an important part in supporting and helping those who do. By finding and providing the right products and services, making sure we get good value for money, and helping front-line teams access the resources they need, we support the delivery of the best possible service and results for our customers.
Danielle: By helping to ensure public funds are spent responsibly and efficiently, I contribute to delivering better value for our customers and supporting the services they rely on.
What do you enjoy most about working at Teign?
Alison: Being part of a friendly team, and a culture that is focussed on its people.
Danielle: The people. Everyone has been incredibly friendly, welcoming and supportive, which has made settling into the organisation very easy.
