How long have you worked at Teign, and what do you do?
I’ve worked at Teign for around a year and a half. My role is to support our Income Advisors in a variety of ways, including helping to manage housing benefit accounts, alarm accounts and customer enquiries.
A big part of my job is helping residents understand their accounts and making sure they can access the support available to them. Whether that’s answering questions, processing refunds or helping people explore their options when they’re experiencing financial difficulties, I’m here to help make things a little easier.
How would you explain your role to someone who’s never heard of it?
I’m often the first point of contact for residents who get in touch with our rents team. I manage enquiries that come into our shared inbox and work to resolve issues or connect people with the right support.
I also help process refunds for current and former residents when money is owed back to them. In some situations, I work with former residents who may still have outstanding balances on their accounts, helping them understand their options and signposting them to organisations that can provide additional support.
The role is really about helping people find practical solutions and ensuring they feel supported throughout the process.
How does your role make a difference to our customers?
Money worries can be incredibly stressful, and many people don’t always know where to turn when they’re facing financial difficulties. Sometimes problems can feel overwhelming, which can make them harder to deal with.
My role is about encouraging people to seek support early and reassuring them that help is available. We can signpost residents to charities, support agencies and partner organisations that offer advice on budgeting, benefits and wider financial wellbeing.
By working together, we can often help residents access the support they need before problems become more serious. Our aim is always to listen, understand individual circumstances and help people move forward with confidence.
What do you enjoy most about working at Teign?
The most rewarding part of my job is knowing that I’ve helped make a positive difference to someone’s life.
Whether that’s helping someone access support, reducing some of the stress they’re experiencing or seeing them regain confidence in their financial situation, it’s incredibly rewarding to know you’ve played a small part in that journey.
I also love being part of such a supportive team. Our Income Advisors do a fantastic job for residents, and I’m fortunate to work alongside colleagues who genuinely care about helping people and making a difference in our communities.
