About the Independence and Wellbeing Advisor role
Operating on your own initiative, you will take on a varied caseload of residents, ranging from older people to those with challenging social, mental and physical issues, you will enjoy plenty of variety and all the satisfaction of helping our residents enjoy life to the full. You will undertake regular inspections of our estates and actively address any littering, antisocial behaviour or breaches of tenancy conditions and Keeping In Touch Visits with residents in their home, inducting new tenants and overseeing property maintenance and improvements. You will deliver a person-centred service working with tenants on their personal goal plans. Equally importantly, you will become an expert on best practice in meeting our most vulnerable tenants’ needs and will proactively drive continuous improvement across the organisation, giving you a very high profile and plenty of scope to make your mark on everything we do.
About you
Experienced in working with older people, you will be compassionate, self-motivated and adept at building productive relationships. Needless to say, you should be effective under pressure, capable of responding rapidly to emergencies and extremely organised and methodical, and you will be capable of giving residents the guidance they need on maintaining their tenancies and protecting their health. Finally, up-to-date knowledge of housing benefits would be very useful, as would a relevant professional qualification, but it’s your empathy and enthusiasm that will matter most.
Alongside sound experience of social housing, you should bring a proven ability to build good relationships with diverse customers and a demonstrable flair for meeting stretching targets. If you’re familiar with housing legislation, so much the better, but it’s your diplomacy, determination and talent for problem-solving that will make the difference every day.
