Social Tenant Access to Information Requirements (STAIRs)
STAIRs is a new standard introduced by the Government, meaning social housing providers must provide information on how we manage our homes and money, to enhance transparency and ensure information is easily accessible.
The objective is that we are open with you, that you can access the information you need about your housing, and you are empowered to hold us to account for the quality of housing and services you receive.
STAIRs is set out in two phases:
- Publication of our information – by 1 October 2026.
- Information requests – by 1 April 2027.
Phase 1 – what information will be available?
Most of the information we are required to publish under STAIRs is already available on our website.

Phase 2 – what information can I request?
The second phase of STAIRs means you can access information related to the management of Teign Housing unless it is reasonable to withhold the information. We will then have 30 calendar days to provide you with the information.
Under STAIRs you will be able to request information on things such as:
- Anti-social behaviour
- Complaints handling
- Procedures, and performance
- Health and safety
- Rent rates
- Property conditions, repairs and improvements to property
- Service charges
- Stock profile
- Energy efficiency information
- Estate management
