A recent case has highlighted how resident reporting and strong partnership working can make a real difference in tackling anti-social behaviour (ASB) and improving community safety.
Following repeated reports from residents about frequent comings and goings believed to be linked to drug-related activity, Devon and Cornwall Police, working closely with Teign Housing and Teignbridge District Council, took action.
The police successfully applied to the court for a Partial Closure Order, which has now been granted, and will remain in place for three months. Anyone breaching the order may be arrested.
This action has been taken to help restore peace, safety and reassurance, enabling residents to once again feel comfortable and secure in their homes.
Gary Wilson, Senior Community Enforcement Advisor for Teign Housing said: “This outcome would not have been possible without the support of residents who came forward to share their experiences and provide statements to the police.
“We know that reporting concerns can sometimes feel difficult, and we would like to sincerely thank everyone who played a part in helping to address this issue. Their information was vital in building the case and securing this legal action.
This case is a strong example of how working together as a community can lead to results in tackling ASB.”
Teign Housing will continue to work closely with partner agencies, including the police and Teignbridge District Council, to monitor the situation and maintain a safe environment for residents.
