The local police force has taken some much publicised action aimed at reducing the impact of county lines in Devon. County lines is a term used when drug gangs from big cities expand their operations to smaller towns, often using violence to drive out local dealers and exploiting children and vulnerable people to sell drugs.
One thing to watch out for, to help keep local children safe, is if you notice a child suddenly has unexplained expensive items, such as technology or clothes. Another sign of potential exploitation is if a child or young adult starts making regular long-distance trips in taxis.
If you have concerns about a young person being exploited, you can contact Devon and Cornwall Police by phoning 101.
