Teign Housing has retained its status as one of the best employers in the UK, following the re-award of its Investor in People, platinum accreditation.
Following an independent survey and investigation into its work and process, Teign Housing achieved a score of 745 out of a possible maximum 900. This improves on the 2017 original platinum result and puts them within the top 2% of organisations across the country.
According to 90% of Teign Housing’s employees, people’s behaviour reflects the organisation’s values. 89% of people believe the organisation has a plan for the future and 88% of people consider the organisation to have clear values.
The report gives particular praise for support for employees during the COVID-19 pandemic and the team work to support residents. It measured Teign Housing’s performance across 27 themes, including creating trust, decision-making, encouraging high performance and developing a culture of continuous improvement.
Paul Devoy, CEO of Investors in People, said: “We’d like to congratulate Teign Housing for Platinum accreditation on investing in people. It is a remarkable effort for any organisation, and places Teign Housing in fine company with a host of organisations that understand the value of people.
“Achieving Platinum accreditation confirms that leaders and managers are applying exceptional practice that supports people to deliver organisational objectives at all levels of the organisation. The standard is tough to achieve.”
As part of the process, almost 100 employees were invited to complete a confidential online survey, with some colleagues then taking part in private one-to-one interviews to provide detailed feedback.
Jo Reece, chief executive of Teign Housing, said: “It is a credit to all our people that we have been able to retain the highest status despite the re-accreditation taking place during the height of the global pandemic. Our teams have shown incredible resilience and innovation to continue to provide services and to ensure those most in need of housing and support receive it.
“It is fantastic news that the IIP researchers have identified the strong processes, investment and management support to enable all our employees to flourish and to deliver on our mission of providing opportunities and develop thriving communities in our local area.”
