Devon-based Teign Housing has made the final shortlist for Employer of the Year Platinum in The Investors in People Awards 2021, beating off more than 300 organisations from across the globe to do so.
The Investors in People Awards celebrate the very best organisations and individuals from around the world across various organisational, people, wellbeing and leadership categories. Each year hundreds of organisations from the UK and abroad battle it out to take home one of the sought-after trophies to show their award-winning commitment to investing in their people. Team Teign will find out if they’ve scooped first place at an online award ceremony on November 23.
The shortlisting success follows Teign’s re-award of its Investor in People, Platinum accreditation earlier this year. Following an independent survey and investigation into its work and process, Teign Housing achieved a score of 745 out of a possible maximum 900. This improved on the 2017 original Platinum result and puts them within the top 2% of organisations across the country.
According to 90% of Teign Housing’s employees, people’s behaviour reflects the organisation’s values. 89% of people believe the organisation has a plan for the future and 88% of people consider the organisation to have clear values.
The report gave particular praise for support for employees during the COVID-19 pandemic and the team work to support residents. It measured Teign Housing’s performance across 27 themes, including creating trust, decision-making, encouraging high performance and developing a culture of continuous improvement.
Paul Devoy, CEO of Investors in People, said: “Now in our eighth year, it always makes me feel immensely proud to see so many fantastic organisations staking their claim to be the best. And every year, the entries do get more and more competitive and the judging even tighter. Reaching the final shortlist is a testament to the amazing commitment these organisations are making to make work better for their people, and they truly deserve this recognition.”
Achieving Platinum accreditation confirms that leaders and managers are applying exceptional practice that supports people to deliver organisational objectives at all levels of the organisation. The standard is tough to achieve.
Jo Reece, chief executive of Teign Housing, said: “We are delighted to be recognised for our commitment to our employees and in turn their commitment to providing the best service to customers. This shortlisting confirms the strong processes, investment and management support to enable all our employees to flourish and to deliver on our mission of providing opportunities and develop thriving communities in our local area.
“I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all our employees for their resilience and innovation to continue to provide services and to ensure those most in need of housing and support receive it.
“Being a great employer means we can attract and retain the best talent in the region, and ultimately that ensures our customers have a great service.”
