Ensure we receive the rent we need. So we can provide the homes our residents love.

At Teign Housing, we’re passionate about giving our residents the best possible homes and our team the best and most flexible careers. Our culture of agile working means our 90 people enjoy an exceptional work-life balance, with the option of spending time based at home. We believe giving you choice over where you work will improve both your wellbeing and your performance – creating a win-win situation for you, for us and for the thousands of people who rely on us.

About the Income Advisor role

You will make a significant contribution to our bottom line as you collect rent and recover arrears from both current and former tenants. In addition, you will ensure that we receive timely payment for alarm services and shared ownership homes, whilst doing everything possible to assist residents with financial difficulties in maintaining their tenancies. This could involve organising debt advice or supporting applications for benefits / grants, so you will need excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to engage diverse stakeholders. Above all, you will make certain that debts do not escalate, including serving Notices of Seeking Possession and initiating legal action where all other avenues have failed.

This is a part-time role for 19 hours per week, to be worked during our opening times of 8.30am – 5.00pm.

About you

Previous experience in a similar role is not required, but you will require a good customer service background and excellent negotiation skills, together with a high level of numeracy and basic understanding of rent recovery procedures. Most importantly, you will be an effective problem solver who can balance differing points of view to reach clear and considered decisions and ensure that residents follow your recommendations and adhere to agreed payment plans.

Benefits

We are an Investor in People Platinum organisation, so you will be joining a company that creates a supportive high-performance culture. You can also expect to enjoy an excellent benefits package, including:

• Flexible working with time based at home
• Training opportunities
• 25 days’ leave plus bank holidays and discretionary leave between Christmas and New Year (pro rata for part-time)
• Pension scheme
• Free parking
