Help our most vulnerable residents enjoy life to the full.
Teign Housing is a successful social landlord employing over 90 ambitious, committed people, responsible for managing more than 3,700 homes across South Devon. Joining a closely-knit team responsible for enhancing the lives of our sheltered housing tenants, you will do whatever it takes to promote their wellbeing and maximise their independence – soon becoming a close friend and mentor.
About the Independence and Wellbeing Advisor role
Operating on your own initiative, you will take on a varied caseload of residents, ranging from older people to those with challenging social, mental and physical issues. From organising communal activities and outings to conducting health and safety inspections, inducting new tenants and overseeing property maintenance and improvements, you will enjoy plenty of variety and all the satisfaction of helping our residents enjoy life to the full. You will deliver a person-centred service working with tenants on their personal goal plans. Equally importantly, you will become an expert on best practice in meeting our most vulnerable tenants’ needs and will proactively drive continuous improvement across the organisation, giving you a very high profile and plenty of scope to make your mark on everything we do.
About you
Experienced in working with older people, you will be compassionate, self-motivated and adept at building productive relationships. Needless to say, you should be effective under pressure, capable of responding rapidly to emergencies and extremely organised and methodical, and you will be capable of giving residents the guidance they need on maintaining their tenancies and protecting their health. Finally, up-to-date knowledge of housing benefits would be very useful, as would a relevant professional qualification, but it’s your empathy and enthusiasm that will matter most.
Benefits
We are an Investor in People Platinum organisation, so you will be joining a company that creates a supportive high-performance culture. You can also expect to enjoy an excellent benefits package, including:
• Flexible working with time based at home
• Training opportunities
• 25 days’ leave plus bank holidays and discretionary leave between Christmas and New Year
• Pension scheme
• Free parking
• Employee Assistance Programme
• And much more
