Teign Housing is a successful social landlord employing over 90 ambitious, committed people, responsible for managing more than 3,700 homes across South Devon. We are passionate about delivering exceptional customer service and, as our Head of Communities and Estates, you will be central to everything we do as you help us build sustainable communities and provide cleaner, greener and safer neighbourhoods.
At Teign Housing, we’re passionate about giving our residents the best possible homes and our team the best and most flexible careers. Our culture of agile working means our 90 people enjoy an exceptional work-life balance, with the option of spending much of their time based at home. We believe giving you choice over when, where and how you work will improve both your wellbeing and your performance – creating a win-win situation for you, for us and for the thousands of people who rely on us.
About the Head of Communities and Estates role
Shaping strategy at the highest levels, you will drive the delivery of outstanding estates, caretaking, housing management and community services to enhance our residents’ lives. Ideally you will have both knowledge and experience of managing gypsy and travellers’ sites and the legislation that underpins this work. As a member of our leadership team, you will actively champion best practice, legislative and regulatory compliance, and value for money, whilst creating a culture where customer service is paramount. What’s more, you will act as our safeguarding lead for children and will constantly involve tenants in the design of new services, so you can expect exceptional visibility and considerable impact on the way we think and work.
Highly experienced in management positions within housing environments, you will bring impressive leadership and mentorship skills backed by proven ability to set and attain stretching KPIs. Naturally, you should be well versed in building and fire safety and landlord and tenant legislation, familiar with tendering and budgeting, and adept at driving far-reaching change. Finally, as Head of Communities and Estates, you will be extremely commercially astute, with demonstrable ability to interpret data, deliver best value and make things happen – and you will be ready to hit the ground running.

In return, you can expect an enviable quality of life in one of the most beautiful areas of Britain, coupled with an excellent benefits package including a contributory pension scheme, 25 days’ leave per year plus bank holidays, private healthcare, free parking and a modern working environment.
