We want to build great communities, not just great and safe homes. You’ll help us make it happen.

At Teign Housing, we’re passionate about giving our residents the best possible homes and our team the best and most flexible careers. Our culture of agile working means our people enjoy an exceptional work-life balance, with the option of spending some of their time based at home. We believe giving you choice over when, where and how you work will improve both your wellbeing and your performance – creating a win-win situation for you, for us and for the thousands of people who rely on us.

About the Health & Safety Manager role

Reporting to our Head of Risk & Assurance, you will advise our Board, Leadership Management Team and colleagues at all levels on health, safety and welfare issues to ensure we fully meet our statutory obligations. We will look to you to develop a high-performing Health & Safety function as you champion best practice and compliance, oversee inspections of our property portfolio, conduct risk assessments and internal audits, investigate any breaches and deliver wide-ranging training.

About you

Well versed in the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other relevant legislation, you will be experienced in organisational management and familiar with engaging with national and local government agencies. Of graduate calibre, you should be formally qualified in Health & Safety (British Safety Council or NCRQ Level 6 Diploma, NEBOSH National Diploma or equivalent) or willing to study with our support.

Equally, exposure to a housing-related environment would be very useful, as would some knowledge of EU and UK procurement processes, but it’s your ability to set clear standards, influence senior managers and apply expert knowledge of evolving legislation and best practice to make things happen that will matter most.

Finally, as you will be travelling regularly between sites, it is essential that you have a driving licence and own a vehicle that is insured for business use.

Benefits

We are an Investor in People Platinum organisation, so you will be joining a company that creates a supportive high-performance culture. You can also expect to enjoy an excellent benefits package, including:

• Flexible working with time based at home
• Training opportunities
• 25 days’ leave plus bank holidays and discretionary leave between Christmas and New Year
• Pension scheme
• Free parking
• Employee Assistance Programme
• And much more
